Edditha DeVera

Edditha de Vera (she/her) grew up in sunny San Diego and started working at The Academy of Alameda (AoA) in 2021. She is the school’s first elementary counselor! She graduated from UCSD with a B.A. in Psychology and later went to pursue graduate studies at The University of San Diego (USD), earning her masters in Counseling. Edditha is a credentialed school counselor, who is also a licensed mental health professional (LPCC 11034).

Edditha has worked in many school settings before joining AoA, such as therapeutic preschools, K-12 non-public schools, counseling enriched classrooms, and general education settings. As AoA’s first elementary school counselor, she has spent the past few years developing a comprehensive, multi-tiered counseling program that supports students’ social well being and academic needs. Using an evidence-based social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum called RULER, Edditha supports students, staff, and families with building their skills of emotional intelligence.

Edditha blends warmth, empathy, humor, and compassion as part of her counseling approach. She believes all students’ feelings matter and that we can always meet students where they are at. She is passionate about creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environment for everyone at AoA.
