Michele Sloane

As the ERMHS (Educationally Related Mental Health Services) clinician at AoA, I support students with IEPs in developing the social-emotional skills they need to feel successful and connected at school. I bring 12 years of experience as a classroom teacher at AoA, which deeply informs my approach and connection to this community.

My decision to become a therapist was rooted in a desire to more fully support students as they navigate the complexities of growing up, including the internal and external pressures that shape their identities. I believe in creating a safe, inclusive space where students can show up as they are, build trusting relationships, explore their emotions, and develop tools to manage the messiness of life and all the challenges that come along with being a human.

I collaborate closely with teachers, families, and IEP teams to support each student’s growth and well-being. Working within a school community like AoA allows me to honor each student’s strengths while and support them in becoming their most empowered selves. I feel so lucky to do this work in this space!
