Ebonie Thomas

This is my eighth year at the Academy of Alameda and my 15th year in education. Throughout my career, I have remained deeply committed to supporting students, families, and staff in building a school culture that is positive, inclusive, and rooted in connection.

As the Elementary School Dean, I wear many hats. I support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral growth, respond to and resolve behavior concerns, and lead Behavior Academies that help students build essential life skills. I am trained in restorative practices and behavior solutions, and I use these approaches to create space for reflection, accountability, and growth.

A large part of my work centers on building strong partnerships with families and supporting staff in creating environments where students feel seen, supported, and successful. I also plan and facilitate school-wide events, including our Festival of Cultures and Read-a-Thon, which bring our community together in meaningful ways.

I am deeply passionate about empowering students not just academically, but as whole individuals. I believe our role as educators is to equip students with the tools, confidence, and skills they need to navigate life with resilience and purpose.
