my name is Miranda Thurman and I am the Middle School principal at the Academy of Alameda I decided pretty early on that I love to work with kids I was a camp counselor when I was growing up I wanted to pursue a career in education so I attended Stanford University the Stanford teacher education program and got my masters and credential I know the history teacher for about 14 years in high schools around the Bay Area about four years ago I decided I wanted to take that to a new level and bring that love I have a big picture learning and engaging students to the administrative level so I pursued a career as a school leader and work to do in Christian design for a while and then joined a 2 years ago a Super Bowl there are a lot of things to make a lie a really special school on one thing that Drew me and immediately was on the diversity of the population here in terms of students but also the adult to work here I think a lot of we'll talk about the importance of diversity but I have rarely seen it really come to life like it does that a away and I'm in all kinds of ways kids come from all sorts of linguistic ethnic background but also just bring a wide range of interests I think are we at the school that has a place for everybody
