Hello everyone! My name is Ms. Smith, this is my first year here and I am happy to be a part of the AoA community.
My preferred pronouns are she/her/hers. My role as a counselor is to construct and maintain a program that serves all students. One way I do this is by providing multi-culturally competent individual/group counseling. Another way is building and reinforcing, equitable academic and social emotional interventions/workshops and teams.
I received my bachelors degree in Psychology and African American studies at Loyola Marymount University in sunny Los Angeles. As well as my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential at the University of San Francisco. Moreover, I have a background in academic and college counseling and look forward to bringing that work to AoA, in hopes of fostering a college/career culture for our middle school scholars.
I love love love the diversity of our student body population. I am passionate about and seek to create a safe school environment for all students! I bring a liberation aspect to my work and I will strive to make sure that all students feel represented and seen at AoA.
