About

My name is Tiffany Myles and I am originally from Seattle. I attended the University of Washington, where I studied communication and public relations. I received my teaching credential and masters degree from Mills College. I have lived in the bay area for almost 10 years now. I like many things but reading is high on my list. I love to teach, it is my happy place! Also, I love getting out to hike, wherever and whenever I can. I have many hats. I am a teacher, a mom of two, and a part-time fashion enthusiast. A fun fact about me is that I once turned down a role on a reality TV show because it would interfere with college! I do not regret this decision.

My preferred pronouns are she/her/hers. I am the Third Grade ELA Teacher here at AOA. I teach English, Language Arts, Writing, and Equity Studies. I have been teaching for six years. I started my teaching career in East Oakland at Madison Park Academy, and I have been teaching ELA at AOA for four years now.

I value literacy. I want every child to be able to read and comprehend what they read. I encourage self-awareness, and the strength of knowing specific reading and writing skills to obtain mastery. My intention is to teach your child the joy of truly understanding what they read, and to always have the ability to choose books that are right for them. I am also committed to a child's sense of self and their personal identity, including but not limited to beliefs, characteristics, and groups that they belong to.

I keep coming back to AOA for the culture of the school. It is a fabulous place to be an educator, with equity and inclusion as a core value. The best way to contact me is by email tmyles@aoaschools.or Please click the email link above to send me a message.
