About

My name is Timothy Dixon, and I love teaching, playing music, and riding bikes. My preferred pronouns are he/him/they.

I teach 2nd grade and I've been working at AoA for 2 years.

I'm very passionate about creating an antiracist and anti-bias classroom environment that is inclusive of people from every background. I got my undergrad in Sociology and Anthropology from Principia College, and my masters from the University of the Pacific through the BATTI program. This is my 6th year teaching, and I love it more every year.

Fun facts: I'm also a musician, I love ride bikes, and I live in Oakland with my wife and dog. I speak Spanish at an intermediate level, and I always want to improve.

I love that AoA reflects the diversity of the Bay Area. It is very rare to see a school that reflects the racial, linguistic, and economic diversity of it's community as well as AoA does. I also love that my co-workers have a deep commitment to disrupting systems of injustice within the classroom, and we can support each other in this work.
